Laurie began working with stained glass in 1996. She owns Grand River Glassworks, a stained glass teaching studio and retail store in Kitchener.

In addition to pursuing her original stained glass works and busy teaching schedule, she also works in the office of her family business, Fritz Electric, Inc.. Laurie obtained a B.A. in Honours English from the University of Waterloo and resides in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.
