Kasumi Lampitoc Kasumi Lampitoc was born in Japan and moved to Canada in 1993. She studied ceramics in Sheridan College's Crafts and Design Program, and, after graduating in 1999, established her own pottery studio in Toronto. Lampitoc's pieces are thrown and hand-built from porcelain and stoneware clays. She states: "I seldom know what a new piece of clay will become until working it in my hands for a while. This allows an individual personality to emerge from the clay into each piece of pottery I make." Her work has been exhibited at the Gardiner Museum in Toronto and the Ontario Legislative Building in Queen's Park. It is also included in the Burlington Art Centre's Permanent Collection of Contemporary Canadian Ceramics, and has been included in the juried "Steamin'" teapot show at Gallery Materia in Scottsdale, Arizona. |
