Winifred Shantz Award for Ceramists

RBC Award for Glass

These awards have been established to recognize and support early career artists working in clay and glass. Seen as awards for achievement and an investment in the future, these awards are designed to allow the recipient time away from the studio, to travel for career development, link with mentors, visit other studios, study museum collections, investigate kiln sites, or liaise with industry, performing research that will further their studio production. They may also be used for international residencies or symposia. While recognizing that not all artists arise from an academic background, this award is intended to assist at a post-graduate level of accomplishment. It may not be used to pay tuition.

The applicants must have been working for a minimum of five years and a maximum of ten years in a productive studio capacity. The call for applications for these awards will be announced annually in the spring, via press releases, and on the gallery's website.

The Jury will meet in the summer and the winner will be announced at a gala event held in support of the gallery to be held in the fall, following the jury's deliberation.

The Jury will consist of three specialists selected annually.
